1972 BMW 3.0 CSi: BMW Classic Center completes first full restoration

BMW wants you to know they'll go the distance in customer service.The Bavarian brand's BMW Classic Center has fully restored a 1972 BMW 3.0 CSi and returned it to its owner in mint condition.The restoration took months of work to complete, including research to re-create as much of the original car as possible and the hours of manual labor to do the work.

Substantial body work was done to repair damage and electrical defects had to be fixed. The interior also got a complete overhaul.The car was also fitted with an automatic transmission from a BMW 2.8 CS at the request of the client, instead of staying with its original 4-speed manual gearbox.

The 1972 BMW 3.0 CSi was handed back to its owner on July 7 at BMW Welt. It was the first customer delivery on a restoration project for BMW Classic Center and the first time BMW Welt delivered a used car to a client at its service center there.The cost of the restoration was not revealed

BMW picks up three honors at the Environmental Transport Association's Green Car Awards 2010

All of the winning models benefit from BMW's award-winning EfficientDynamics technologies, which have been offered as standard since 2007.  All the models receive a combination of innovative technologies involving a mixture of Auto Start / Stop, Brake Energy Regeneration, Active Aerodynamics, low rolling resistance tires, Electric Power Steering, on-demand ancillary systems and optimum gearshift indicator features.

Stephen Chater, BMW Group corporate operations manager, said: "To have three wins in the Green Car Awards is a phenomenal achievement.  It is a testament to the measures that we've implemented within our EfficientDynamics strategy into every BMW, meaning that we're able to provide customers with the driving pleasure they expect from a BMW, while still meeting the stringent requirements for fuel-efficiency and low emissions."

Andrew Davis, director at the Environmental Transport Association, said: "With the price of petrol at record levels and greater understanding about the threat to the environment there has never been a more important time to make fuel efficiency a deciding factor when choosing a
car."================================================================================================================================
